Independence Day 2008: Vision 2020, How Visible is It?
Nigeria as an independent nation clocked 48 some hours ago. It is now our duty to look into our past, compare it with the present so as to see how the future will be.Â
We’ve been on this journey to a promise land close to 50 years ago. We’ve achieved some of our goals like having a democratic goverment in power after a long stretched ruling by the military and also we are still far from achieveing the rest. What is our hope as citizens, we helplessly found ourselves in this vehicle called Nigeria. What are our rights and what are our duties to our Nation?
We really need to face the fact that we are yet to complete half of our mission as a Nation. But I’m always optimistic about the future that it hold a brighter one for us. Looking into when we started, we kicked off well, we did well, but along the way we lost focus. Now tell me, who will lead us back to our right track? Our president seems to look promising in the beginning, but with all the corrupt people he’s working with things look so much out of his hand.
But in conclusion, the only right leader for us that will lead us back to our track will be directed by God. He will make things easier for him. All what God needs is the commitment and faith from we people. If we can hold on to that, our promise land is within our reach. If God is ready for us, year 2020 is even too far for miracles to happen, cos it has already shown face; the future is visible; the vision is achievable, not only by the government, but also by we citizens.
To make the vision 2020 visible for us all, let us embrace the second stanza of our National Anthem. It is more powerful than the first because it is nothing but a prayer for our nation. Start today and henceforth to recite this prayer every blessed day of our lives and we will be amazed at what will happen to Nigeria before year 2020. Â Join me now as I recite this:
Oh God of creation, direct our noble causeÂ
Guide our leaders rightÂ
Help our youth the truth to knowÂ
In love and honesty to growÂ
And living just and trueÂ
Great lofty heights attainÂ
To build a nation where peace and justiceÂ
shall reign.
NIGERIA HAPPY 48TH BIRTHDAY
