You and Google Adsense

I got a mail from one of my students on Google Adsense, and I will like to publish the conversation here, because it will really help you too.

A lot of people thinks that money just keep rolling in your Adsense account through your blog without work. If you are being told that, it is a big lie. This guy just created his blog couple of weeks ago and he expects money everyweek just like that. It kind of funny.

There are alot of things he still needs to do on his blog (http://things4thought.blogspot.com), especially the traffic generation side (search engine optimization). But I think he sees blogging as a quick moeny maker, or may be he’s just too confuse to believe he’s yet to make a dime. Well anyhow, here’s is email unedited:

> Hi Bosun,

> Thank you for your assistance, I really appreciate it so much.

> I want you to explain some issue to me about this blogger:

> 1.  It is already a  month now and I’ve published like about twelve article and u told me that every 15th of every month I would be paid and I’ve checked my PO Box, I have not been sent any letter, pls explain whats the> matter.

> 2. I’am I going to create more bloggsto the present onethat I’am using so that I can publish on two blogger once in a day ?

> 3 You told me the other time that I should create a graphics that  will entice more people to   click on It , how I’am I going to do that  ?

> Pls ! Pls! I want you to shed light on these cos by now, letter should have been sent to my PO Box .

> THANKS

> Akinjare Akinbode

And to this, I answered him with this email. if you chack his blog, you will see he’s got just 7 short posts. I don’t see the possibility of him making money the way he expected. But here’s my reply:

Hello Bode,

I understand you are eager to make money from this blogging business, but there are some facts you need to know. Before you can recieve any letter or check in you P O Box, you need to have revenue (money) in your Adsense Account.

These are the steps you need to take to know what is keeping the pin waiting.

Log into your adsense account through www.google.com/adsense and check if you have any revenues yet in your account.

Note that Google will not contact you until the revenue in your account reaches $100. So I will advice you to first keep your eye off the prize or money in it, build traffic to your blog.

If you have hundreds of thousands of articles and nobody visits your blog to read them, they wont click your ads and that will not result in any revenue.

You need to focus on building the blog to get traffic (people) to read on your blog. Let me spell it out, the more traffic (people) on your blog the more your chances of making money.

You can make that $100 in one week if you take your time to follow instructions and likewise it can take you a year if you are only interested in the money.

It is like this (Content leads to traffic, and traffic leads to money)

All the best

And to be sincere that’s the pure fact about making money on your blog through Adsense. If you have anyother contribution or contradiction to the conversation above, kindly leave a comment and let everyone gain from your own experience. No one is actually above learning
